personal opinion post

sometimes i feel that certain fat-centric tumblrs (usually more fashion oriented ones) play fast and loose with the definition of fat. i understand people have the right to self-identify, but isn’t it someone’s job as a curator to establish some standards?

like, if i’m having a bad day and want to see images exclusively of well-dressed fatties, don’t i have the right to be able to look at a tumblr that implies that’s it’s about fa(t)shionable folks and see… actually fat people?

i mean, i’ve mixed all of my fashion blogs together in google reader, so it’s not about wanting to avoid straight size fashion inspiration - but if i’m wanting to see clothes on bodies like mine (fat ones, yeah), what do i do?

  3. heyfatchick answered: The ones with ‘chubby’ in the title seem much looser with their definitions. (I hope I’m doing a good job! Please tell me if I slip up. xxx)
  4. nudiemuse said: Are you talking about fat looking? Body types like yours? Specific sizes or heights? I don’t think unless you run a space that you’ll always see bodies you think are fat.
  5. dont-panic-yet answered: I know what you mean. I know some girls self-identify as fat but I just have a hard time seeing someone who is 5’10 and a size 12 that way.
  6. julietburgess answered: It’s tough because we don’t want to tell anyone that their fat is more or less than someone else’s fat. I guess the blogs could specify sizes
